Andrew Cavenagh has set out his stall at Rangers this summer.

The Ibrox supremo, who is one of the majority owners, alongside the 49ers Enterprises group, has promised to back Danny Rohl.

He has taken over the public duties since Paraag Marathe walked away from the spotlight to avoid UEFA sanctions for his involvement with Leeds United.

He will be focused on securing incomings that make the Gers competitive with Celtic and Hearts, after they fell away at the end of last season.

However, his ambition may be tested most by a potential exit at Ibrox, as a star man is lined up for a move elsewhere.

Who has been touted for Rangers exit?

Kris Boyd has touted Gers star Nicolas Raskin with an exit this summer after his stunning rise to stardom with his country.

Andrew Cavenagh's financial plan for Rangers poses major risk

The Light Blues legend believes that it makes sense for the Belgian star to depart and secure a hefty profit after the World Cup.

He spoke to the Daily Record on 7 June, saying: “None of us are naive enough to think that if there is a serious offer coming for Nico Raskin, Rangers wouldn’t consider it.

“At the end of the day, they have to look at the balance of their squad and they have to get money in if they’re going to go and spend again this summer.

“Yes, the Americans have spent a lot of money, but you also have to start bringing money in.”

How can Cavenagh show ambition at Rangers?

Cavenagh must stand strong and reject any offers that the Gers receieve for the 25-year-old ace.

There is no guarantee that the Govan club would spent the money that they would receive well enough, having made several mistakes in the market recently.

They are better trying to build around the former Standard Liege man, if they can hold on to his services, and they should be able to.

He is under contract until 2028, with the extended date being revealed a while back, and Cavenagh should make the G51 club's stance abudantly clear.

The American businessman could even go as far as releasing a statement on his intentions to keep Raskin around next season.

He needs to prove his ambition, and show supporters that the majority ownership have the club's best interests at heart, and will do all they can to catch up with Celtic and Hearts.

While a big fee would be nice for Rohl and allow him to make more additions to the squad, the club should be trying to keep their best players and add more quality, if they are to challenge for the biggest honours.
