Rangers squandered up to £8million on the signings of Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers during the summer transfer window, according to Gary Keown.

Writing on pages 98 and 99 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday's print edition on 29 October, the journalist said Michael Beale was "inexplicably allowed" to spend that much cash on the two attackers, who are "still running around in the starting XI".

He added that new Gers boss Philippe Clement has got to "wake up to the madness of that pretty quickly" if he is going to get the club back on "anything like an even keel".

Give them a chance

It's far too early for people to be telling Clement to write off players as he's only been at Rangers for a couple of weeks and he needs to give everyone a fair chance.

The pair in question have by no means pulled up any trees since arriving at Ibrox, but after the money they forked out on signing them, the Belgian needs to at least try and get a tune out of them.

It isn't as though he currently has an awful lot of other options at his disposal, so until he can bring some more recruits through the door in January, he has to work with the tools he's been given.

Rangers

The Gers boss will likely be taking a rational approach to matters at the moment rather than coming in and making wholesale changes that could have an adverse effect on his squad.

He's had a reasonable start to life in charge, having gone unbeaten in his opening two games, and he'll be hoping to record a confidence-boosting win against Hearts on Sunday.
