Derek McInnes is under increasing external pressure after Rangers' humiliating defeat to Jablonec on Thursday.

The Bears have been knocked completely out of Europe after losing to the Chechia side on penalties in a new low for the Ibrox club.

The Gers took a 1-0 advantage in the Conference League qualification tie, but were taken to extra time and eventually lost 4-3 penalties after Findlay Curtis and James Penrice both missed.

McInnes has now won just two of his seven games in charge of the Light Blues, with supporters already turning on the former Hearts boss.

Not only that, pundits and journalists are are starting to voice extreme doubts, given how the 49ers have backed the 55-year-old so heavily in the window so far.

McInnes has been brought 12 new faces at Ibrox so far this summer, with Kevin Kelsey set to be the next player through the door, for another £9.5million.

The Gers manager is showing little to no signs that he can get his side out of this rut, which has given them a shocking start to the season.

While speaking live on Sky Sports, Boyd reacted to what he seen against Jablonec, and clearly fears for the former Aberdeen boss.

Boyd said: "They look like an absolute pub team; they've been terrible, void of any ideas, no creativity.

"They have been going long, hoping hat something was going to happen and this was coming, they are absolutely miles off it.

"McInnes, you've got to say his job will be under threat after this evening; it has been terrible."

There have been no reports to suggest that the 49ers are considering sacking McInnes, and may give the Scot some time in hopes he sprinkle some magic that was seen at Tynecastle last campaign.

But patience is growing thin, and suggestions are already being made to replace McInnes.

When Danny Rohl left, they quickly identified McInnes as their lead target, but many Gers fans had been hoping to see Steven Gerrard discussed.

The former Rangers head coach held discussions with the 49ers after Martin's departure, but felt it was not the right time to return to Ibrox.

Suggestions are already being made online to bring the Scouser back to Govan, and with a clear ambition shown in the market by the club, he could be tempted this time around.

However, McInnes may get a couple more chances before Gerrard comes into their thinking.
