Parkhead exit confirmed: Are dominoes starting to fall at Celtic after Rangers double?
Derek McInnes has completely silenced early doubters of his Rangers credentials with back-to-back wins against Celtic before the international break.
After knocking the East End club out of the Premier Sports Cup with a 3-0 victory at Ibrox, McInnes' men went to Parkhead and ran out 1-0 victors in the Scottish Premiership.
Despite a stuttering start, Rangers are now second in the Scottish Premiership.
And while there are still two points seperating the two Old Firm rivals, as well as Celtic's early goal difference being a lot better, the Light Blues no doubt have the mental edge going into the autumn fixtures.
There may also be signs of that psychological advantage starting to creep in right now.
Especially with Celtic failing to officially announce their latest behind-the-scenes exit.
Adam Ashgar leaves Celtic Park
According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic Under-19s manager Adam Ashgar has left his role at Lennoxtown.
Although the Hoops haven't said anything on their official website or social media channels, Ashgar's LinkedIn page shows that he left them in August.
Of course, that means he left Celtic before Rangers' wins in back-to-back Old Firm fixtures.
However, the Gers still made their mark as last season, they won the 2025-26 CAS Elite U19 League, while Celtic finished in a lowly fifth place.
Rangers' U19s won both times when they met Celtic in the league.
So not only is the present looking good on the blue side of Glasgow, the future is looking brighter, too.
What about Martin O'Neill's future?
There's a lot of discontent at Celtic right now.
Rangers fans have had it bad lately but even though the Hoops won the league last season, they've hardly seized the opportunity to pull themselves further ahead of the crowd in Scotland, or improve their European foot
Ashgar's exit could be the start of dominoes falling at Celtic, but it will no doubt take a lot more for Martin O'Neill's job to come under threat.
As it stands, the Bhoys are top and the Irishman has a lot of money in the bank considering his status at Celtic Park and the fact he won the league last term.
But if Rangers are top come the end of the calendar year, there'll no doubt be some twitchy trigger fingers on the Parkhead board.
