Luke Platt has confirmed that he has left his role as a scout at Rangers.

The UEFA A Licence holder joined the Govan side in April 2023, with a focus on identifying youth products to bring in.

His LinkedIn page highlights the signing of Zebedee Lawson from Brighton, suggesting that he had an impact on the deal to sign him.

He confirmed that he has left his post with the Light Blues to link up with the Football Association and the England national team.

He sent an emotional message to the Gers and supporters, as he shared details of his next move.

The Bears will now have to replace Platt and bring someone else in to help their youth recruitment.

What did Luke Platt say about Rangers exit?

Platt expressed his gratitude to the Gers for his time with the club in a message on social media.

He took to LinkedIn on Tuesday, saying: "After an incredible period with Rangers football club, the time has come for me to move on to a new challenge.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone at Rangers FC for the opportunities, experiences, and relationships that have helped shape my journey. Working within such a historic club alongside dedicated staff, players, and colleagues has been both a privilege and a valuable learning experience.

"I am excited to share that I have accepted a new role as a Talent ID Scout with England and The Football Association. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the identification and development of future talent within the national pathway, and I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.

"As I begin this new chapter, I carry with me many great memories and lessons from my time at Rangers. Thank you to everyone who has been part of that journey.

"I am excited for what comes next and look forward to continuing to support and develop the game."

How will Platt's exit affect Rangers?

The extent to which Rangers will miss Platt's influence depends on how much control he had over the youth recruitment.

If he led it, it will be a big blow and Derek McInnes' side need to find a suitable replacement as soon as possible.

If they do not, they will surely miss out on some of the best youth talents that they could have added to their ranks.

If he was just a cog in a machine, then it will still function without him and they will still be able to bring in promising youngsters even though he has left.

Only time will tell whether Platt's departure harms the G51 sides academy business, but right now, getting a new man in might not be a priority for the 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh.

The Gers need to catch up with Celtic and Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, so first-team recruitment will be the primary focus.

The academy will be on the back burner for the time being, while the senior side look to get back into title contention with a busy summer transfer window.

It may be that Platt is not replaced until the season is underway, given how important the off-season is for McInnes' side.
