Emmanuel Fernandez has reacted after Danny Rohl's Rangers exit was confirmed.

The Gers announced that Rohl was to join Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday after less than eight months in the Ibrox dugout.

The Nigerian defender was signed by the German's predecessor Russell Martin, but really came into his own under the 37-year-old.

He featured 31 times under Rohl, and emerged as a leader in the defence in his reign.

That has left to significant interest in his services, but whether he will follow his manager out of the door, remains to be seen.

He has sent a message after the Austrian side completed their swoop for the former Sheffield Wednesday man.

What did Emmanuel Fernandez say to Danny Rohl?

Fernandez clearly enjoyed playing under Rohl, judging by his reaction to his departure.

He took to his Instagram story on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the matter.

He said: "Good luck with your next adventure."

Could Fernandez follow Rohl's Ibrox exit?

Fernandez is a prime candidate to follow Rohl in leaving the Govan side this summer.

He has regularly been linked with an exit, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

English clubs such a Everton, West Ham and Arsenal have also been mooted as potential destinations for the three-cap international.

He had a connection with Rohl, and Derek McInnes need to make sure that he can get the centre-back on board with his message.

It would not be the end of the world if he departed, as it would net the Light Blues a significant windfall, but his impact on the pitch would need to be replaced with similar quality.

That would be a hard task, so it may be easier to keep him at Auchenhowie and build the defence around him.

Another factor is the figure owed to Peterborough United if he was to be sold, as they have a sell-on clause, believed to be around 30 per cent.

Therefore, the Bears would not see much of the profit that they made on a potential exit, so it makes more sense to persuade him to stay put for another season.

He is contracted until 2029, so the G51 side hold all the cards in the situation.
