Derek Ferguson was not the biggest fan of Minsu Kim's performance in Rangers' 2-2 draw against Dundee FC on Saturday.

The Bears shared the points with Steven Pressley's side at Dens Park, failing to climb to the summit of the Scottish Premiership.

Bradley Fink put the hosts ahead in the 37th minute before Badredine Bouanani's superb curling effort nestled into the top corner to draw the Light Blues level.

Derek McInnes' side came out with more energy in the second 45, as Nicolas Raskin's wonderstrike put the Gers back in front before Dan Neil's mistake allowed Callum Jones in to make it 2-2.

The Govan side pushed to get back in the lead after being dragged back to level terms, but McInnes' men were unable to secure all three points.

One of the main disappointments for Ferguson was Kim, who was given a crucial responsibility for Rangers on the night.

Why Minsu Kim left Derek Ferguson flabbergasted vs Dundee

Rangers signed Kim for £8.5million from Girona in the summer, tying him down to a long-term deal.

The South Korea international has caught the eye in Govan already, but has come under some criticism due to the fact that he's not registered a goal or an assist for the Bears yet.

Despite this, McInnes still sees the 20-year-old as one of his favourite players for Rangers, even if he isn't everyone's cup of tea at the moment.

While speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Ferguson revealed his surprise at Kim's performance in attacking midfield in several instances throughout the first half.

Ferguson said: "I was really happy to see Kim starting centrally, thinking he could get on the ball on the half-turn. He's been posted missing in the last 15-20 minutes.

"It's just incredible; I thought it would suit him down to a T, playing centrally and with more chances of getting on the ball. He looks so unsure; it's pretty surprising. I thought it would suit him, but he looks out of sorts."

Ferguson also slammed Kim's lack of "conviction" in the build-up to Bouanani's goal after having his own close-range effort blocked.

He did, however, joke that the youngster must have heard him talking after showing bright moments in the second 45.

Rangers player ratings vs Dundee: Badredine Bouanani sensational, 4/10 teammate stinks

Was Ferguson's criticism of Kim justified?

Well, Kim was a completely different player in the second 45 to what he was in the first half.

The attacker came out buzzing with energy, pulling off clever flicks to set up his teammates, and was a key reason why his side looked the better team in the second period.

Kim created the most chances in the game and made the most dribbles with three.

He also took the joint-most shots in the match with four.

Kim certainly showed more of his quality in the second 45, but Ferguson still couldn't wrap his head around his first-half display.
