Rangers boss Derek McInnes has revealed advice he's been given from Sir Alex Ferguson.

The legendary manager who won 13 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues with Manchester United has grown quite close to the Gers boss.

McInnes shared that the two met again this week, on Tuesday, and the 84-year-old spoke to him and his staff.

Ferguson's advice could be very helpful for the Ibrox manager, given his very impressive resume south of the border.

Ferguson also has vast experience in Scottish football, winning the Scottish Premiership three times, four Scottish cups, one Scottish League cup, one European Cup Winners Cup and a Super Cup with Aberdeen.

The Bears are hoping to pip Celtic to the title this season, and any insight on how to do so, will help them.

What did Sir Alex Ferguson say to Rangers boss Derek McInnes?

McInnes shared that Ferguson told him to forget about the difficulties that he had early on in his reign, and focus on the future.

He revealed that the veteran was really impressed with the 1-0 win at Parkhead recently over Celtic, where Ryan Naderi scored.

As per quotes from the Daily Record, McInnes said: “He spoke about his own difficult start at Man United, he said it’s how you finish a season, not how you start the campaign.

“Sometimes it can take time, as we know in modern football, sometimes you don’t always get that time.

“But he thought we were really strong in the performance at Celtic Park in particular.”

That advice is exactly what the Light Blues boss needed to hear, he has overcome his struggles and needs to continue on the winning run.

How can McInnes use Ferguson's advice to his benefit?

McInnes seems to have settled on a system and a starting line-up that is working and he needs to stick with it for the foreseeable future.

Fringe players may be angry that they are not getting game time, but unless they prove themselves in training, the boss needs to stick with the same core for as long as possible.

The G51 outfit have won their last six matches in all competitions, and if they can continue to do that, they have every chance to lift the title in May.

There are likely to be many twists and turns, but like Ferguson said, it is how you finish, rather than how you start that will define everything

McInnes needs to take that advice, and make sure that his side are in a position to capitalise when it really matters.
