Derek McInnes hasn't gotten off to the start he would have wanted at Rangers.

The Bears kicked off the start of the Scottish Premiership by travelling to Tannadice to take on Dundee United on Friday.

The Light Blues came back from a goal behind courtesy of a wonderful finish from Thelo Aasgaard, which ensured that a 1-1 draw wasn't all doom and gloom for the new boss.

It will clearly take time for McInnes and the squad to gel, though it remains clear that further attacking additions are required.

The Gers can now sit back and watch the rest of the division play over the weekend, as one match won't bring down their ambitions.

However, the significance of McInnes returning to Glasgow without three points on the opening day for Rangers may have more meaning than on the surface of things.

Aasgaard was everywhere for Rangers, though there were some other poor performers for the Gers.

McInnes made two proactive changes at the break, introducing Dan Neil and Youssef Chermiti for Djeidi Gassama and Ryan Naderi.

His changes clearly made an early impact, though the draw may not be enough to have Rangers fans on board yet.

In the past three seasons, the Bears have failed to win on the opening day.

McInnes may have already fallen into the trap that so often results in little success for Rangers after the draw to Dundee United, but they're maybe some hope yet.

Ibrox News understands that Rangers are still very active in the transfer market and are looking to bring in more wingers to close out their business.

Frosinone right-winger Fares Ghedjemis is of major interest to the Bears, with Vaclav Cerny and Amario Cozier-Duberry also on their shortlist.

It could be the McInnes looks for another defensive addition after Ben Godfrey's knock against Dundee United.

Either way, the Rangers boss is still due another couple signings, which may be the final pieces to the jigsaw at Ibrox.
