Storm Eowyn: Dundee United v Rangers latest as Met Office issue Saturday update

Rangers and Dundee United's match at Tannadice still looks set to get the all-clear, despite the latest Met Office update on Saturday.

Celtic's match with Dundee on 25 January fell victim to Storm Eowyn, while Rangers' own plans have been impacted by the poor weather conditions.

The Met Office has issued an update for Scotland, with new warnings in place for wind, snow and ice.

However, Dundee itself looks likely to avoid the worst of the weather. While some showers and winds can be expected on Sunday (26 January), it is not currently likely to put a halt to the game going ahead.

Celtic's match with Dundee shows that the authorities will not take any risks when it comes to the safety of supporters.

Given the scenes at Ibrox on Friday (24 January), in which part of the stadium structure was damaged, it is a good job this match is being played away from home.

As long as the conditions do not deteriorate more than expected, there is every hope this match will go ahead as expected.

And that will give Philippe Clement's men a chance to close the gap on leaders Celtic to 10 points, albeit having played a game more.

That is still quite the deficit to make up, but with another Old Firm to come, seven points all of a sudden does not seem impossible to bridge.

That is jumping a little too far ahead, though, and on the basis of recent away performances, simply getting three points at Tannadice is the only focus right now.
