Sky Sports have issued an update as AZ Alkmaar manager Pascal Jansen has been linked with the vacant managerial hot seat at Rangers.

The British broadcasters reported on Friday (6 October) that a "Source in Holland" has suggested that it would be unlikely for him to move to Ibrox.

This is because his side are currently second in Eredivisie and find themselves with a rare chance of challenging for the title.

Fair enough

To get Alkmaar into a title battle means that Jansen is doing something incredible and he'll not want to let that go so easily.

It would've been easier if the call was made in the summer or perhaps if he was not in a job currently.

Right now, it seems that the board will have to do an unbelievable job to convince an in-work manager to leave for the project they sell or go for some unemployed.

The latter looks the more likely option which is why Frank Lampard and Scott Parker are names that are being thrown into the mix.

It remains to be seen what finally ends up happening but the club's got to be thorough with their decision making process.

Michael Beale was certainly not the right option and that was learnt the wrong way.
