Si Ferry and Kevin Kyle have slammed Sam Lammers for his recent displays, suggesting he must be "unbelievable" in training to keep starting matches for Rangers.

The Dutchman has only scored twice in 26 appearances in all competitions since arriving in Scotland this summer and has been the subject of plenty of criticism from supporters and pundits alike for his poor early displays under Philippe Clement.

When Lammers joined from Atalanta in the summer, there was a lot of excitement among the Rangers fanbase but Ferry believes that the Light Blues play much better when he's not in the side.

Rangers

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (5 December, 53:15) he said: "Even the one yesterday (v St Mirren) he gets the ball on his right foot and he screws it. The manager needs to take a bit because Rangers have played really well without him in the team I think."

Kyle quickly replied saying: "He must be unbelievable in training. I saw a highlights reel of Lammers before his Rangers days and the highlights were a joke, but if you stick anybody's highlights reel together they can be a joke."

Not doing enough

It can often take new players time to adapt to the Scottish game and a player rarely takes to playing for one of the Old Firm clubs with complete ease, but there has been little in Lammers' Rangers career so far to suggest that the Dutchman is improving.

The 26-year-old should be entering the prime years of his career but whenever he's named in the starting XI there is often a collective sigh from Rangers supporters as there is absolutely nothing in his game that gets supporters out of their seats.

His goalscoring numbers throughout his career have been terrible, but he has been so wasteful since arriving at Ibrox, missing six big chances in the Scottish Premiership alone. For a marquee signing, supporters would have expected more from the Dutchman.

Clement has plenty of options to play behind the front player in that attacking midfield role and there is absolutely no reason for him to continue to select Lammers ahead of the likes of Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence, even if he is "unbelievable" in training.
