Russell Martin has caused a huge mess at Rangers since arriving in the summer.

Rangers have been disastrous despite spending heavily since Martin joined, and fans now want to see him replaced.

Sturm Graz were the latest team to beat Rangers, with Martin's side defending feebly as they made it two losses from two in the Europa League.

Rangers have been woeful both in the Scottish Premiership as well as in Europe, and many are now wishing Steven Gerrard would return to Ibrox.

Russell Martin has failed in Europe as Steven Gerrard stat emerges

Rangers were humiliated in the Champions League by Club Brugge in the qualifying rounds, which meant they dropped down to the Europa League.

Losses to Genk and Sturm Graz have followed, and there has been nothing to suggest that Martin's side will improve any time soon.

Martin has now lost five of his eight European games in charge, a truly dismal record, and this looks even worse when compared to that of Gerrard.

Martin and Gerrard's European records compared

It took Gerrard 32 UEFA matches to lose five games during his successful spell at Ibrox, yet Martin has managed this in just a couple of months.

Martin looks liklier to reach 10 losses than 50 wins, and that could even happen this season if Rangers continue to underwhelm under him.

Martin has ruined Rangers' European aura

Gerrard was so influential at Rangers that he made them a force in Europe, and even in the years that followed his exit, there were still strong performances in UEFA competitions.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst reached the Europa League final, with several incredible European nights at Ibrox en route to Seville.

Philippe Clement got Rangers through in the top eight of the Europa League last season, with Barry Ferguson reaching the quarter-finals.

Under Martin, there has been no European atmosphere, nor has there been any belief that Rangers can upset the odds against top-quality opposition, and the Ibrox aura on a European night has vanished thanks to the under-pressure manager.
