Derek Clark is expecting Philippe Clement to start Robin Propper when Rangers face Motherwell on Saturday (10 August).

The 30-year-old centre-back, who was announced as a signing by the club on Thursday 1 August, had suffered from visa issues, having to jet back out of the UK to complete more paperwork [The Rangers Review].

Still, Propper was involved with the Gers squad ahead of their Champions League qualification clash against Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday 6 August, remaining as an unused substitute in a 1-1 draw.

Speaking via The Rangers Review YouTube channel on Wednesday (7 August), Clark said: "I'm expecting him [Propper] to start the game on Saturday [against Motherwell].

"Surely he's settled in by now. I know the manager said he had a lot of paperwork to fill in, having to fly back and forth, but he's been brought in to play."

Robin Propper to be handed Rangers debut v Motherwell?

Clement will be desperate for his side to claim all three points at Hampden Park against the Steelmen, having picked up consecutive draws against Hearts and Kyiv.

The Gers' defence looked extremely shaky against Hearts and Lawrence Shankland, with Ben Davies being replaced by Leon Balogun on the hour-mark at Tynecastle, joining John Souttar at the back.

That same defensive partnership stuck for the Champions League qualification game in Poland, with Davies being dropped to the bench and Propper being involved in the matchday squad for the first time.

Following Connor Goldson's exit to Aris Limassol, the Light Blues are calling out for a new leader, and the Dutchman already looks capable of filling that role once he gets up to speed with his teammates.

The match against Motherwell represents Clement with the perfect opportunity to throw him into the lineup, otherwise fans may begin to become restless with the manager.
