Ridvan Yilmaz "really wants" to join Galatasaray and seal his exit from Rangers during the January transfer window, according to Burhan Can Terzi.

Speaking to Parcali Sportz, the Haber Global journalist shared [18 January] the latest on the Turkish international, who is currently the first-choice left-back at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement has expressed his desire to bring in a new left-back this January, with Yilmaz and Borna Barisic not up to the Belgian's high standards in the position.

Move that makes sense

A move back to Turkey makes perfect sense for Yilmaz, who spent four years with Besiktas before Rangers bought him for an initial fee of £3.4million with add-ons seeing it rise to £5.3million. [BBC Sport]

It has taken a while for the full-back to settle into life in Scotland, having only made 29 appearances since arriving at Ibrox in July 2022. And his Rangers career looks to be coming to an end after just two years of his five-year deal.

With Clement taking over the managerial position in October, it is understandable that the Belgian wants to make changes to the squad and make it feel more like his team, with Yilmaz potentially taking the first hit of the revamp.

Rangers

The Gers squad comprises several Michael Beale signings, a manager who was subsequently sacked and replaced by the current manager. Yilmaz could be just the first departure in a long list of planned transfers that Clement has in mind.

If the Turkish left-back is to leave this January, it will be vital that Rangers find a replacement for him as soon as possible.
