Rangers’ worst shirts ranked as new fourth shirt released
Rangers have announced the release of a fourth shirt and it has been controversial.
Supporters and observers have claimed that it is a shameless money-grabbing attempt from the Ibrox club.
The design has also struggled to win supporters over, as it does not look like a typical Gers shirt.
The colours have been described as blue atoll and caviar by the official club shop, but it is essentially a black and turquoise strip.
It will likely not be worn by the likes of Nicolas Raskin and Minsu Kim that much, so luckily fans won't have to lay their eyes on it that many times.
Ibrox News attempts to rank it among the previous worst Rangers shirts after the new release.
What is the first entry on the list of Rangers' worst kits?
The oldest entry on the list is the home shirt from 1990 to 1992, which comes in sixth.
The strips with the classic McEwan's Lager are usually brilliant, but this Admiral effort was not.
It featured a bizarre collar with a geometric zigzag trim, with blue, red and white detailing.
Luckily, the Bears lifted the Scottish Premiership in both seasons it was worn, so it is a bit higher in the rankings that it may have been if not.
Where the new fourth shirt ranks
The new fourth shirt comes in fifth on the list of the worst Gers kits of all-time.
The style has clearly not caught the imagination of the fanbase, and the perception may only change if Derek McInnes' side taste success.
Many have compared it to a Wycombe Wanderers shirt, as it is pretty much the same colours as the English League One club.
If they go on to wear it in a result that defines their season in a positive way, then it may have a much better standing among supporters in the future.
Rangers' 2003-04 away is next on the list of the worst kits
Rangers' 2003-04 away shirt looked something more like an Atletico Madrid shirt, and is fourth on the list.
It featured red and white stripes, with the detailing including the badge in blue.
The iconic Carling sponsor does a lot of work to lift it higher than it might otherwise have been.
It is reminiscent of a season where the likes of Barry Ferguson, Lorenzo Amoruso, and Claudio Caniggia were sold, and the Gers failed to win a trophy.
There is an even worse kit from the previous season
The 2002-03 away shirt may have seen more success, with the Light Blues winning the league that season, but it was not a nice kit and comes in third.
The Gers won the league that season, with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Shota Arveladze in the team, but the shirt is infamous for how ugly it was.
It was an eyesore, a dismal orange number with dark blue details and thankfully it was gone after one season.
Why a similar one to the new Rangers shirt ranks much lower
The 2016-17 away is similar to the new fourth shirt, but it is lower on the list in second.
The Puma-manufactured effort was the same pattern but with red and white squares with a black collar.
It was donned by the likes of Joey Barton, Jordan Rossiter, Niko Kranjcar and Philippe Senderos.
The G51 side did not manage to win anything and finished second in the league.
What is the worst Rangers shirt of all time?
The worst Rangers kit of all time has to be the 1994-95 away shirt.
It was a red number from Adidas, which had black pinstripes going down the shirt.
It also featured a massive club badge in the middle of the shirt, and proved to be an issue in European competition due to clashes.
The Bears won the league that season, but that does not change the fact that the kit is a monstrosity.
