Gordon Duncan labelled St Johnstone's defendng as a "disaster" after they went 1-0 down against Rangers at Ibrox.

The Gers got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory against St Johnstone on Sunday (12 January).

Hamza Igamane broke the deadlock after 16 minutes when the away team allowed the star striker too much time in the box for a strong finish.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News (12 January, 3:17pm), Duncan was left questioning the Saints as he said: "The home side take the lead, it's the main man Hamza Igamane.

"It's a disaster from St Johnstone's perspective. They try and just walk the ball out, goes out for a throw-in, Diomande cuts it back and it's a simple finish from Hamza Igamane."

Rangers victory against St Johnstone

Although pressure was continuing to mount on Philippe Clement coming into this game, a solid victory for the Gers may well have saved the Belgian for another week.

However, it is worth noting that their opponents are the side sitting at the bottom of the table, nine points away from Hearts above them, which puts into perspective the level of the result.

The Light Blues seem to be reluctant to part ways with the boss and with 15 points between them and Celtic in the top spot, so you can understand why Gers fans are so frustrated by the decision to stick by the Belgian.

Disgruntled Rangers supporters at Ibrox will no doubt be far from convinced by this result, which frankly they just cantered to against significantly weaker opposition.

Instead, it is up to the boss to ensure his side shows an ability to back it up with another win against Aberdeen on Wednesday (15 January).
