Pat McAfee was left stunned as he shared footage from the Rangers versus Hibernian game with his three millions followers on X.

Hibs defender Nectarios Triantis comically took out two of his own team-mates from a free-kick gone wrong in the Gers' 3-1 victory at Ibrox.

Triantis blasted the ball clean into the face of Joe Newell and it then ricocheted into the face of Will Fish, before looping back and hitting Newell for a second time.

Former NFL star and now WWE commentator McAfee said on his personal X account [30 March]: "This isn’t real… this can’t be real.. @bubbagumpino.. is this real?"

Hibernian players wiped out by free-kick v Rangers

McAfee was right to question if the footage had perhaps been doctored given just how comical it all was.

Even those in attendance could not quite believe what had happened in a passage of play surely nobody has seen before.

To take out one team-mate with your own free-kick is one thing; to take out two, while inflicting further pain on one of them, is another.

It was a moment of light relief in a game in which Philippe Clement's men went on to win 3-1 on their return to Scottish Premiership action.

While this may not have been the best advert for the league, the footage has now been shared millions and millions of times across the world.

And as they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity, even if Hibs pair Newell and Fish perhaps disagree.
