Police barriers are in place for the Rangers v Benfica UEFA Europa League clash on Thursday, 15 March, according to the club's SLO.

The two sides are deadlocked at 2-2 in their tie and the next 90 minutes at Ibrox could decide who progresses into the next round.

There are security measures being taken to ensure that things do not get out of hand.

The Supporters' Liasion Officer took to Twitter to write: "Please note, although Police barriers are in place, they remain open, allowing fans to navigate around the stadium. Gates will remain open, subject to Police Scotland discretion."

Rangers go into the game v Benfica as favourites

The well-being and safety of both sets of fans is paramount and it's important for Police Scotland to be vigilant.

European clashes often spark violence between the two sets of supporters leading to unsavoury scenes.

Football matches are meant to be joyous occasions and such incidents tarnish the reputation of the beautiful game.

Hopefully, nothing extreme takes place before or after the game and also things are taken care of if anything ends up getting out of hand.

It is a big European fixture and the hope for Philippe Clement will be that his side can pick up from where they left off and get the all-important win in front of their home fans.

It's important for Gers to pick up the victory and complete what they began in the first leg.
