Rangers have been dealt a major blow in the William Hill Premiership after losing 3-2 to Motherwell on Sunday.

Jens Berthel Askou's team punished the Gers on the counter at Ibrox on 26 April, going into the break with a two-goal advantage.

Youssef Chermiti helped the Light Blues get back into the game with a goal and an assist in the second half, but the Steelemen found a late winner in Govan.

Danny Rohl clearly has a new problem with his defensive setup at the Glaswegian outfit, as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four league matches.

Motherwell silenced the Ibrox faithful on the evening and supporters in G51 may have been given reason to believe that the German manager won't be able to lead their team to the title this time around.

Rangers concede poor chances vs Motherwell

Berthel Askou decided to sit back and hit the Gers on the counter and the Danish manager's tactic paid off in the end.

It was surprising to see the Light Blues slightly edge possession against the Steelmen, creating six big chances with an xG of 2.21, as per Sofascore.

In contrast, the North Lanarkshire side created one big chance and recorded an xG of 0.57, but they ended up outscoring the Govan side.

Similarly, against Falkirk, the Glaswegian outfit conceded three goals, with the hosts recording an xG of 1.7, highlighting the defensive issues Rohl needs to address in G51.

Danny Rohl to fume after what's seen at Ibrox

Rangers created enough chances against Motherwell to at least take a point from the game at Ibrox.

While Chermiti led the charge for the comeback before the Gers conceded in the 90th minute, the Portugal Under-21 international missed a few glaring chances to score.

Thelo Aasgaard also could have found the back of the net when the Glaswegian side were in the ascendancy, but they failed to take advantage of their momentum in the second half, and the title arguably looks out of reach now if they continue to perform like this.

Rohl has managed to rely on the Govan side's defensive solidity while dealing with a toothless attack, but the German manager hasn't been able to count on his backline in recent weeks.
