Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland is in for a shock England recall from manager Gareth Southgate, according to the Daily Mail.

The publication reported on its website on Monday (19 February) that Southgate is concerned about his goalkeeping options as back-up to Jordan Pickford.

The Three Lions take on Brazil and Belgium in friendlies next month as they prepare for Euro 2024 this summer.

Will Rangers star Butland return to the England setup?

Butland has been hugely impressive since his summer switch to Ibrox, with the potential of a return to the England squad somewhat unsurprising given his form.

It is a remarkable situation given the goalkeeper had not been playing before his move to Glasgow, and also given how he had huge gloves to fill after legendary figure Allan McGregor announced his retirement.

But Butland has got his head down and got the job done, with his efforts between the stick crucial in helping Rangers return to the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Southgate is just one interested party, with the Three Lions manager now having a big call to make when it comes to his goalkeeping options.

Butland has been superb all season for Rangers

The concern for the man in the dugout comes amid the lack of minutes for Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone at Arsenal and Crystal Palace respectively, with Newcastle United’s Nick Pope out injured.
