Rangers player ratings vs St Mirren: Badredine Bouanani the bright spark as 6/10 teammate turns it around

Rangers eventually found the breakthrough as they won 1-0 against St Mirren on Wednesday evening.

Derek McInnes made three changes to the side that beat Motherwell 1-0 last time out.

Badredine Bouanani and Kevin Kelsy made their first starts, while Ryan Naderi also came into the line-up.

Lawrence Shankland, Findlay Curtis and Kim Minsu dropped out of the side for the Ibrox clash.

McInnes' side dominated the game on home soil, but they could not score until Bojan Miovski's late goal changed the complexion of the result.

It was vital that they took three points, as Celtic also won against St Johnstone.

Badredine Bouanani shows what he can bring to Rangers

New signing Bouanani was very dangerous in his first start for the Light Blues.

The Algerian, who is on loan from Stuttgart, created three chances for his teammates, and had 52 touches on the ball, per Fotmob data.

He had two touches in the opposition box and made three passes into the final third as he tried to make something happen.

Bouanani was constantly trying to get the ball in the box, with five of 13 successful crosses, for a 38 per cent success rate.

He also showed a willingness to help out defensively, with three contributions, including two tackles and an interception as well as five recoveries.

A strong first showing in front of the Ibrox faithful, before he was replaced in the 60th minute.

He was surely taken off for fitness reasons, rather than performance related ones as he emerged as the bright spark for the hosts.

Ryan Naderi struggles but turns it around in Rangers win

His fellow attacker, Naderi, struggled to make the required impact, though.

The German had just 43 touches in the contest, with four of them coming in the opposition box.

He missed one big chance and only completed 57 per cent of the passes that he attempted.

The 23-year-old had a miserable night and did not prove that he can help lessen the impact of Shankland's absence for most of the night.

However, he turned it around late in the evening, when he bagged an assist for the winner.
