Rangers player ratings vs Falkirk: Emmanuel Fernandez shocking as teammate shines again

Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez had a shocking game against Falkirk on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international started alongside Olwethu Makhanya at Falkirk Stadium on 2 September and was arguably the weakest link for the Gers.

Lawrence Shankland's ferocious strike gave the Light Blues an early lead, but John McGlynn's team found an equaliser just before the break after an own goal from Kosta Nedeljkovic.

Fernandez put in another poor display for the Ibrox side against Falkirk.

The Bairns had an encouraging start to the second half, but Shankland scored another for Derek McInnes' team with around 10 minutes to go in the game.

In the end, the Glaswegian outfit saw out a touch clash in Westfield as they won 2-1.

Fernandez has had a poor start to the season at Rangers after being a key player in their resurrection during the 2025-26 campaign.

The 24-year-old was all over the place at Falkirk Stadium and went down too easily after being pulled back in the build-up to the home side's first goal.

As the game went on, the defender seemed to lose his concentration, leading to several stray passes.

The Bairns could've taken the lead at around the hour mark had Jacob Murrell been more clinical.

Cammy Devlin and Nicolas Raskin's partnership in the midfield also disappointed, with both midfielders failing to make an impact.

Derek McInnes has clear game changer at Rangers

Minsu Kim turned heads on his Rangers debut against Aberdeen and was once again the star of the show for McInnes.

The South Korean attacker was lively in the opening 45 minutes as he played behind Shankland in the number 10 role.

Kim consistently gave the Falkirk defence plenty to think about with his dangerous movement on and off the ball.

The 20-year-old hit the woodwork in the first half and was close to doubling the Gers' lead.

In Kim, McInnes clearly has a forward he can rely on to consistently make an impact in the final third.

Shankland deserves a mention for his goals, but the South Korean ace was certainly the one who got fans off their seats more often in the game.
