Rangers secured a much-needed 1-0 win at Aberdeen on Sunday.

Derek McInnes made four changes from the side that were eliminated from the UEFA Conference League at the hands of Jablonec.

Vanja Dragojevic, Tochi Chukwuani, Daisuke Yokota and Ryan Naderi all dropped out of the visitors line-up.

They were replaced by Cammy Devlin, Findlay Curtis, Lawrence Shankland and new signing Kim Min-su.

It was a scrappy game at Pittodrie, but the Light Blues eventually took the lead through a Shankland penalty.

They held on to take all three points, after a home goal was ruled out through VAR, for a vital result for the manager who is under heavy pressure.

Djeidi Gassama proves that Rangers can't sanction exit vs Aberdeen

Djeidi Gassama was a menace in the contest, and constantly tormented the Dons backline.

The winger has been linked with an Ibrox exit, but he proved that McInnes' side can't sell him with his showing.

He put in a fantastic display that saw him create the most chances with three, and take the most touches in the opposition box with seven.

Most importantly, he won the penalty that led to Shankland's opener that allowed his side to take the lead.

The 22-year-old completed three of six dribbles, for a 50 per cent success rate, and also made two passes into the final third.

He played like he was on a mission, and it may have been successful.

Surely, the Bears can't sell him after his performance on the North East coast.

He bought the Gers crucial time at the end of the contest by drawing a foul and they held on for the result.

Dan Neil has another dismal display as Rangers win

Dan Neil has not exactly endeared himself to Gers supporters in recent weeks with his performances.

The former Sunderland man has been named vice-captain by McInnes, but he is now showing those levels on the pitch and has struggled.

That continued against the Dons, as Neil put in a lacklustre display in the middle of the park.

The 24-year-old completed 89 per cent of his passes, but created no chances for his teammates, per Fotmob.

Defensively, he only made one tackle, two clearances, three recoveries and won just two of the five ground duels that he attempted, for a 40 per cent success rate.

Those numbers simply have to improve if he is to have a place and a leadership role going forward, it is as simple as that.
