Kevin Muscat holds second interview as new Rangers manager update emerges

Kevin Muscat has held a second round of talks with Rangers chiefs over becoming the new manager at Ibrox, according to the Daily Record.

The print edition of the Scottish outlet reported on its back page on Tuesday (October 10) that Muscat discussed the position with Gers bosses over another Zoom call from Japan on Monday night (9 October).

Philippe Clement is the other main contender in the frame to succeed Michael Beale, it is claimed, having also held face-to-face talks with an Ibrox delegation in London.

Appointment imminent

From a shortlist of four names, it now appears that Rangers have whittled down their list of contenders to take over from Beale to two men.

Clement and Muscat are both said to have entered a final round of talks with the Gers, meaning an appointment is now surely imminent.

The pair have had the chance to explain what they would bring to the club, and each would be an exciting arrival in their own way.

Muscat has past experience of playing for the Light Blues, of course, so the club does not really need any introduction to him.

The Australian has had managerial title success at Melbourne Victory and Yokohama F. Marinos, where he has spent the past two years.

Some nine days on from Beale's departure, it may well be that the next update to emerge will be confirmation of the next manager.

Whoever it is, they will get the full backing of the Gers' fanbase.
