Ghana were expecting Rangers star Mohamed Diomande to turn up to their training camp in Marrakech after paying for his flights, according to the Rangers Review.

The news outlet reported on its website on Thursday (21 March) that the 22-year-old hasn't shown up to the Black Stars' base after being called up to both their full squad and the Ivory Coast U-23s team this week.

It added that the Ivorian-born midfielder now looks set to choose his country of birth following the tug-of-war for his allegiance between the two nations.

It's the early form Diomande has shown in a Rangers shirt that has earned him the recent recognition from both countries.

It's an interesting situation that Ghana paid for his flights to join them at their training camp as that suggests they felt he was going to represent them.

The midfielder qualifies to play for the Black Stars as he holds a Ghanaian passport after growing up in the country and playing in their Right to Dream Academy.

But it looks as though he wants to represent his country of birth and no one can really blame him for that decision as it's the choice most people would probably make.

The fact he's potentially choosing a place in the Ivory Coast U-23s side shows how committed he is to play for them when an opportunity with the Ghana full squad is on offer.
