Rangers loan exit on the cards as Stevens wanted in relegation battle

Dunfermline are now "keen" on making a loan move for Rangers youngster Archie Stevens, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via their website (30 January, 13:31) that the Scottish Championship side want to "boost" their attacking options before 3 February with Stevens now in their sights.

The report adds that Michael Tidser is looking for ways to help get his team towards safety as they battle relegation from Scotland's second tier.

Although the exit of Archie Stevens wasn't likely the sort of transfer that Philippe Clement had in mind for the winter transfer window, it's one that makes a lot of sense.

The 19-year-old was highly sought after at the start of 2024 and while no moves ended up coming to fruition, he's continued to develop at a steady pace for Rangers.

This season, the attacker has played four times in the Scottish Challenge Cup for Rangers B and has managed to contribute to three goals in that time.

His most common position this term has been at right-midfield with the youngster's pace one of the key assets that make him the player that he is.

While the transfer of Stevens wouldn't guarantee Dunfermline their safety, his work rate and talent would certainly go a long way towards helping them achieve their goals.

It would also give him some much-needed first-team experience so he can continue to develop at the same rate and perhaps even make his way into the Gers' first team one day.
