Rangers fans applauded their team off the pitch after the 1-1 draw against Olympiacos on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League.

Reacting to the footage that emerged from the Karaiskakis Stadium on 7 November, Newsquest Scotland journalist Jonny McFarlane stated that it was a good result for the Ibrox outfit as well as Scottish football as a whole.

Cyriel Dessers scored the equaliser for Gers after the visitors found themselves chasing the game.

Via X, McFarlane wrote: "Another terrific result for Rangers - and Scottish football this week."

Rangers fans certainly did their bit against Olympiacos

The fans played a crucial role in lifting the spirits of the players during their match against Olympiacos, contributing significantly to the atmosphere that helped secure a draw.

Their applause and support at the end of the game would have been morale-boosting for the players and they were cheering their side on during the contest as well.

This kind of backing can often be the difference in away European games, where the environment can be intimidating.

For Philippe Clement, this result will be seen as a positive step, especially in the context of European competition where every point away from home is valuable.

A draw against a competitive side like Olympiacos in Greece, where they have a good home record, reflects well on his management.

In many ways, it was the players showing that they were still willing to fight for their manager despite adversity.
