'Rangers did something against Celtic I've never previously seen' - Andy Halliday

Andy Halliday was blown away by Rangers' latest Old Firm triumph over Celtic.

Derek McInnes' men earned the three points at Celtic Park on Sunday through Ryan Naderi's first-half strike.

It comes seven days on from a 3-0 win over the same opponents in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals.

Rangers were once again dominant and, while they may not have had a three-goal margin of victory this time, this win was just as satisfying.

As good as Rangers were, it must also be said Celtic were atrociously bad once again.

That is something Halliday flagged as he gave his immediate views on the match at full-time.

Rangers were better than their opponents in every department - most notably in midfield.

McInnes' side perhaps should have added to their tally, but in the end Naderi's goal was enough.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, Halliday said he cannot recall seeing Rangers produce such a dominant display at the home of their fierce rivals.

"The only difference to last week is that Rangers never put the ball in the back of the net [more often]," he said.

"I thought the second half was even better than the first. It was complete control. It wasn't until the last five or 10 minutes that Celtic started to put Rangers under any sort of pressure.

"I honestly don't think I've ever seen a Rangers team go to Celtic Park and get so many easy touches of the ball.

"It was similar to last week, with Celtic just not getting close. Dan Neil and Nicolas Raskin, at Celtic Park, getting 30, 40, 50 easy touches."

As Halliday rightly says, Raskin and Neil bossed the show from midfield.

Chris Sutton echoes Halliday's views

Even Celtic-mad supporters would accept their side was second best on Sunday.

Chris Sutton, who never hides his dislike of Rangers, admitted to being concerned by what he saw.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Sutton said: "Rangers were better in every department.

"Celtic lacked legs and physicality in the middle of the park and they haven't been able to cope in the big games. They were smashed, and that's a concern."

The mood could not be any different around Ibrox right now.

Rangers are flying and remain on course for silverware on multiple fronts.

After a dreadful start to his tenure, we are now starting to see what a McInnes-Rangers side really looks like.
