Rangers and Celtic's Scottish Premiership title chances updated by supercomputer after pivotal weekend
The Gers wasted the chance to leapfrog Celtic at the summit on Saturday night as they were held 2-2 at Dens Park in an entertaining game.
To make matters worse, Celtic then eased to a 7-1 win over Hearts the following day in a game that was made far easier than it should have been.
It means Martin O'Neill's side are four points clear of Rangers once again at the summit with nine matches played.
The good news is that there is still an awful long way of the campaign to go, including a couple more games with Celtic.
But the supercomputer odds have now shifted far more in Celtic's favour after the events of this weekend.
What are Rangers' title chances after Dundee draw?
A point away at in-form Dundee is not the worst result in the world in isolation.
Rangers had been on a superb winning run but it was never possible it would continue on and on.
Fans need to remain upbeat, though at the same time it is true that too many more dropped points will make it impossible to finish above Celtic.
A terrible start to Derek McInnes' tenure means Rangers have been playing catch-up from the start.
In the latest Opta Analyst supercomputer update on Monday, Rangers are now given just a 22.92 per cent chance of winning the league.
Celtic are at 74.88 per cent, while Hearts still have an outside shot of 2.14 per cent despite the crushing loss at Celtic Park.
Are Rangers on course to better last season's points tally?
Based on expected probabilities, Rangers are projected to reach 66 points and Celtic 72 points this season.
For comparison, Rangers registered 72 points last season and finished third, while champions Celtic got to 82 points.
So the supercomputer expects Rangers to gain fewer points than last season based on a number of factors, which may sound surprising.
McInnes' men now know they cannot afford anything less than a win when hosting St Johnstone at Ibrox on Saturday, before Celtic travel to Hibernian the next day.
