Rangers arguably have a slight advantage over Celtic after the SPFL announced the post-split fixtures on Tuesday (16 April).

The Gers will hope to move back to within one point of leaders Celtic with victory over Dundee on Wednesday (17 April) at Dens Park.

That will then leave five games to determine who is crowned Scottish Premiership champions, including an Old Firm showdown at Parkhead.

The final league clash between the title rivals will take place on Saturday, 11 May live on Sky Sports in a potential decider for top spot.

Rangers simply have to avoid any slip-ups, and a look at the fixtures published by the SPFL works slightly in their favour.

Of the four games other than the Old Firm, Rangers play first in two of them and Celtic in the other.

Like with penalty shoot-outs, teams would always prefer to play first when in a head-to-head battle with another side - or sides.

Rangers travel to Hearts on final day

It effectively means that Rangers can increase the pressure on Celtic by moving ahead of them, all going to plan, before they play.

The Light Blues travel to St Mirren in the early kick-off on 28 April, while Celtic are at Dundee an hour or so after full-time in Paisley.

It is then Celtic's turn to go first the following weekend when hosting Hearts on 4 May, a day before Philippe Clement's men host Kilmarnock.

After the Old Firm, Rangers then host Dundee on 14 May, 24 hours before Kilmarnock vs Celtic. If it goes down to the final day, the Gers face Hearts at the same time that Celtic play St Mirren.

Fingers crossed that advantage - however slim it may be - is taken advantage of by the Gers.
