Philippe Clement to consider Rangers exit after Ibrox transfer developments

Rangers manager Philippe Clement will be thinking about leaving Ibrox after new developments, according to Si Ferry.

The Light Blues manager has limited money to spend during the summer transfer window so far, with the Gers currently thought to be reliant on player sales before they can add any new signings to their squad [Rangers Review, 14 July].

On top of that, off-the-field drama has continued with the redevelopment of Ibrox as the Gers are instead set to play at Hampden and Open Goal pundit Ferry believes the Belgian will be growing frustrated.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (1 August, 27:20) he said: "He must be thinking about walking Clement, no?"

While Clement will have known the Gers weren't the perfect football club when he arrived in Glasgow last year, there is no way he would have expected to deal with this much in just his first 12 months in charge at Ibrox.

There has been an injury crisis, stadium redevelopment, summer rebuild, title race and two cup finals and while most fans will agree he's done a good job in charge, there hasn't been loads of progress to show for it so far.

The Belgian must feel as though he is managing with one hand tied behind his back at all times as every time his side or the club as a whole begin to turn a corner, they're put back to square one by circumstances out of his control.

Hopefully, that will change before the Belgian decides to exit out of frustration, but the majority of supporters wouldn't blame him if they heard he was considering his options given all he's had to deal with.

The next few weeks could be crucial for the Gers boss as the season gets underway and the transfer window draws to an end. It isn't an overreaction to suggest they could be tenure-defining.
