Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin responded after ex-colleague Scott Wright sent a message on social media following his transfer to Birmingham City.

Wright posted on Instagram (31 August) with a video compilation accompanied by a long message saying goodbye to Gers players, staff and fans alike after completing a £300,000 move to the League One side.

The 27-year-old wideman said that he wished Philippe Clement and his former team-mates, "nothing but the best of luck for this coming season", to which Raskin replied with a love heart and raised hands emoji.

Birmingham City transfer right move for Scott Wright and Rangers

While a £300,000 switch to the English third tier suggests that Wright was well down the pecking order at Ibrox, the winger had in fact started three of Rangers' opening six matches in the new season.

However, change has been the theme of the summer for Clement at Ibrox, and as a player who has managed just seven goals in 68 league appearances for the Gers, moving Wright on makes sense.

Raskin, meanwhile, will be chomping at the bit to play his first matches of the new campaign, having picked up a pre-season injury which has ruled him out of contention thus far.

Scott Wright Rangers message

The arrival of Nedim Bajrami on deadline day, coming as both Wright and Todd Cantwell headed out of the door, represents a significant upgrade on the duo as Clement finalised the reshaping of his squad.

Wright leaves with the best wishes of most fans – albeit not all of them judging by the 'limited' comments on his farewell post – but with Bajrami in the building and Raskin also making a return, the Ibrox faithful will be looking forward rather than back.
