Neraysho Kasanwirjo will never play for Rangers again after new development

Neraysho Kasanwirjo could've played his last game at Rangers after picking up an injury, Barry Ferguson has said.

The right-back picked up a knock on international duty while playing for the Netherlands Under-21s against England on 18 November.

Ibrox News has been told by Dr Rajpal Brar that the Dutchman will be out for months, and now it's "highly unlikely" that the Gers will make his loan move from Feyenoord permanent [Daily Record, 2 November].

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show Podcast [2 December], Ferguson said: "I've seen the incident. You could tell right away it looked like a nasty one. So, hopefully, he recovers well. But I don't think you'll see him in a Rangers jersey again, unfortunately.

"I've liked what I've seen. You could see he had huge potential. Never like to see someone suffer a serious injury. But I'm sure he'll be looked at in the right manner and come back even strong."

Neraysho Kasanwirjo deserved Rangers chance

The 22-year-old wasn't the first name on the team sheet for the Light Blues this season, but the defender delivered whenever he was called upon.

Philippe Clement has preferred James Tavernier at right-back for most of the campaign, but it's high time for the Belgian to stop relying on the skipper, whose performances have dipped in recent months.

Dujon Sterling has replaced the 33-year-old in the starting lineup as of late, but the Englishman is also sidelined at the moment due to a fitness issue.

Kasanwirjo made 12 appearances in all competitions for Rangers in the current campaign, and it seems unlikely that the right-back will return to action before the season ends.

It would be unfair on the 22-year-old if the Light Blues were to discard him as an option to bolster the right-hand side of defence next summer.

Tavernier is clearly on his last legs at the Gers, and despite the emergence of Sterling, the skipper still needs to be replaced.

Kasanwirjo could be a good option to add depth to the Bears' squad if and when he makes his comeback, and with the 22-year-old's versatility of being able to play at left-back, the Glaswegian club would be making a mistake not to give him another chance at Ibrox.
