Neil Warnock has revealed his plan for Aberdeen facing Rangers at Ibrox is to see whether they can make a game of it rather than sitting back and allowing the home side to come onto them.

The newly-appointed boss was speaking live on talkSPORT after his arrival at Aberdeen was announced, as Jim White questioned whether he was prepared for a "feisty" clash at Ibrox to get things started on 6 February.

Aberdeen have already been somewhat of a bogey team for Gers this season, winning 3-1 at Ibrox which saw Michael Beale sacked, and grinding out a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [5 February, 12:42], Jim White asked: "Rangers v Aberdeen is a feisty affair at the best of times, what can you instil in these boys to go to Ibrox and attempt to get something?"

Warnock then explained: "We've just got to have a go, you know. Nobody expects us to get anything so I'm just going to ask them one or two things that I picked up on Saturday and see if we can make a good game of it.

"I don't want to go there and just defend, I want us to try and have a go when we can."

Warnock looking to test Rangers

The new manager's arrival at Pittodrie came as a bit of a surprise, but the 75-year-old claims he is ready to get back into the swing of things and will look to go toe-to-toe with Philippe Clement's men on Tuesday night.

Aberdeen are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw against Celtic at the weekend and will take plenty of confidence from taking a point from the league leaders as they travel to Ibrox with plenty of hope. That result led Chris Sutton to send a warning to Gers.

Philippe Clement calls for calm at Rangers

As previously mentioned, Rangers' record against the Dons is not exactly impressive so far this season, failing to win either of their league clashes so far, but a victory in the Viaplay Cup final will have given Clement and his squad the belief they can win this one.

Everybody knows what Warnock brings to a job. Chaos, passion and fight. Perhaps that will be just what Aberdeen need ahead of their trip to Ibrox, and it'll be up to Clement to deal with that.
