Michael Beale has expressed his delight at seeing Filip Helander, a player he sold while at Rangers, playing for Sweden on international duty.

The former Rangers boss who was sacked less than two weeks ago has taken to Instagram to praise his former player, who has recovered from a difficult spell of injuries to earn another international cap.

Helander has since joined the Danish side Odense Boldklub, making four league appearances and working his way back into the international set-up, having left Ibrox upon the expiry of his contract in July.

Rangers

Beale took to his personal Instagram page to express his pride in his former player, writing on his story: "Great to see big Fil back playing, fit and healthy again. Well done Helander, delighted for you."

A good connection with his former players

Since leaving the club, Beale has been shown to retain a high opinion and a level of respect going both ways amongst his former players, with this the latest example of the respect he gives and the high esteem in which he holds those who played under him.

Helander didn't make a single Scottish Premiership appearance under Beale, due to recurring injury issues from the foot injury which kept him out for 413 days [Transfermarkt] between 11 April 2022 and 29 May 2023, while Beale joined the club in the middle of that time, 28 November 2022.

Rangers

Despite being injured for the length of his tenure, Helander clearly had an influence around the club and forged a good connection with his boss from behind the scenes.

The respect from Beale was clear in his parting message to Rangers, both the club and fans, after his sacking, in which he expressed love and admiration for the club and lent his support to his former players in the belief that they can still achieve big things.
