Michael Beale has reportedly met Chelsea defender Dujon Sterling for the "final time" as Rangers are on the cusp of making an official announcement.

According to Football Scotland [29 May], the deal to sign the full-back is done and it's just on the club to make it official.

The 23-year-old has already been given a tour of Auchenhowie earlier in May and he's now set to finalise his free transfer.

Rangers

Kieran Dowell has already signed and Sterling is next in line.

Excitement building

Rangers have not yet replaced Nathan Patterson and it seems like by signing Sterling, they're doing exactly that.

It may take 12-18 months but the feeling is that he will eventually take over the reins from James Tavernier, who's currently his first choice.

He's the captain and his influence on the pitch is second to none so replacing him is going to take some doing and Beale knows that as well.

Sterling's not a regular name in the Premier League but he has trained with top players and that his certainly going to rub off on him.

He will certainly be getting a lot of game time and it remains to be seen if he's ready for the challenges and responsibilities.

As it's a free transfer, there's not too much to worry about for Rangers and the pressure will also be less on him.
