Lennon Miller may miss the upcoming game against Rangers after he picked up an injury as Motherwell were thrashed 6-0 by Everton, the Scottish Sun reports.

According to a report on the paper's website on 6 August the teenager is one of many adding to Stuart Kettlewell's headaches ahead of the meeting at Hampden Park on 10 August after he was hurt in the behind-closed-doors friendly.

The 17-year-old, who the Light Blues are believed to be interested in signing, is now a "major doubt" for the Scottish Premiership game at the weekend, with Ross Callachan and Shane Blaney also now on the injury list, and the trio of Callum Slattery, Harry Paton and Sam Nicholson ruled out.

Philippe Clement has had far from an ideal preparation of the new season amid a frustrating transfer window that is still far from complete and the inability to play home games at Ibrox for weeks to start the campaign.

But after the late Cyriel Dessers equaliser against Dynamo Kyiv on 6 August it looks like the opposition in the first game decamped the national stadium might be even worse off.

It was set to be the second league game in succession to kick off the season where a high-profile player linked to an Ibrox move would be facing off against the Light Blues after opening against Lawrence Shankland and Hearts.

But it looks like Clement won't get a chance to see Miller in action up close this time, which may be a blessing when the Belgian is looking for a first win.

The Light Blues snapped up Connor Barron after his exit from Aberdeen this summer and have also been tipped to look at the man that beat him and Miller to the SFWA Young Player of the Year award David Watson by Ibrox News pundit Derek Ferguson.

With only a few weeks before the 30 August transfer deadline Clement probably has bigger priorities to worry about but a move for Miller could be an excellent one.
