Lawrence Shankland part of 'greatest no-brainer' in history weeks after Rangers transfer
Lawrence Shankland is enjoying the best football of his life after signing for Rangers.
After nearly firing Hearts to the Scottish Premiership title last season, the striker moved to Ibrox before jetting away with Scotland for the World Cup.
Shankland has scored three times in two warm-up games against Curacao and Bolivia, no doubt delighting Steve Clarke and Danny Rohl.
Now, with the World Cup opener only one week away for the Tartan Army, Shankland has fired himself into contention to be the main man.
Lawrence Shankland sets Rangers fans dreaming already
The striker had been linked with a move to Ibrox for years, and he has finally made that a reality for those fans in blue.
Now, he is flying off the back of his dream move and making sure that the Bears have strong World Cup representation.
Tom English believes that should see him start for Scotland against Haiti on 14 June, with no other answer for Clarke.
Writing for BBC Scotland, the journalist admitted that it's the greatest no-brainer ever to start Shankland, who is in the form of his life.
"Making Shankland a starter against Haiti is the greatest no-brainer in the history of footballing no-brainers," English started.
"He is the striker Scotland has been crying out for for an awfully long time, an instinctive and clever finisher, a guy who can score different types of goals. He has scored 24 in 38 games this season and 10 in 12 since the turn of the year.
"At precisely the right time, Shankland is playing the football of his life."
Despite the disbelief of Lyndon Dykes actually being called up, it appears that Clarke has full faith in the Rangers star over him.
What did Lawrence Shankland say about joining Rangers?
As many expected, it was a dream for the striker to secure his move to Govan after years of speculation.
After losing the Scottish Premiership title on the final day with Hearts, it was likely refreshing to get his move to Ibrox sorted only weeks later.
It allows Shankland to focus fully on the World Cup and leaving his mark on the biggest stage over in North America.
After signing at Ibrox, he admitted he wants to leave his own stamp on Rangers, saying he wants to be a part of winning trophies like so many have before in Govan.
For now, it's about keeping up his scincillating form for the World Cup, and then bringing it back for Rangers and Rohl.
