Kris Boyd shares 'brutally honest' verdict after what happened in Rangers clash v Livingston
Kris Boyd was baffled by the decision to disallow winger Ross McCausland's goal for Rangers in the first half against Livingston on Sunday (12 November).
Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on Sunday (01:00pm), the pundit said he wasn't sure why the Northern Irishman's strike was ruled out after Abdallah Sima was adjudged to have committed a foul in the build-up.
He argued that the Senegalese winger was fouled by Livingston defender Luiyi de Lucas and, if anything, a penalty should have been awarded to the Gers in their 2-0 victory.
When asked if he knew why a foul had been given on Sima, Boyd said: “I’m not quite sure to be brutally honest. What I will say is, it’s a fantastic finish from McCausland. But I’m not quite sure because, if you want to go back to the foul, De Lucas gets a hold of Sima’s shirt right there.
"Sima is absolutely nowhere near Montano at that moment in time. Yes, he does push him after that, but if you want to go back and start it again, then it should be a penalty to Rangers”
Didn't watch closely enough
It's pretty clear that VAR didn't watch the situation back closely enough as they would have seen that Sima was the one who was initially fouled in the build-up to the goal.
The winger did make contact with another Livingston defender, but by the time that happened, the ball had already gone and play wasn't really impacted.
It was incredibly unfortunate for McCausland as he was denied his first goal for the Gers following an excellent finish on the right-hand side of the box.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet, the 20-year-old put in a promising performance to show Philippe Clement why he deserves to be more involved.
The Belgian manager will have been delighted to have secured another three points and a clean sheet as he looks to put the Light Blues in a position to compete for silverware this season.
