Kris Boyd disappointed by one thing he didn't see in Rangers win vs Celtic

Kris Boyd wasn't happy with one aspect as Rangers beat Celtic 1-0 on Sunday.

The Gers travelled to Parkhead on 20 September, a week after dominating the Hoops in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final.

Derek McInnes selected the same team he chose at Ibrox, and their performance in the second Old Firm derby was much the same.

Ryan Naderi's goal in the 33rd minute was enough to seal the three points for the visitors in the William Hill Premiership.

While the Light Blues had several other chances to find the back of the net, they failed to convert them.

It was another impressive display from the Govan side, and Martin O'Neill is lucky the scoreline wasn't worse.

Dan Neil once again ran the show for Rangers, but sadly couldn't get on the scoresheet this time around.

Boyd believes the Gers completely outclassed their Old Firm rivals in G40, with Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez and Olwethu Makhanya standing out at the back.

Apart from Naderi's goal, he worked all over the pitch for the team and contributed extensively off the ball.

The former Gers forward turned Sky Sports pundit would've liked to see the Govan side score more to firmly establish their dominance in the game.

Speaking on Sky Sports, as relayed by BBC Sport, Boyd said, "It was men against boys, the exact same as last week. Sterling, Makhanya, Fernandez outstanding.

"Naderi was excellent, the shift he put in for the team was incredible.

"To dominate a Celtic team like that, it should have been more convincing than what it was. Celtic are lucky to get out of here with a 1-0 loss. They are a team in big, big trouble."

McInnes became the first Rangers manager since Graeme Souness to win his first two Old Firm derbies.

This hasn't happened since 1986, and the ex-Hearts boss is certainly on the right track to etch his name into the club's history.

After what has been seen from the Light Blues in their last two matches, it wouldn't be surprising to see them considered the favourites for the William Hill Premiership title.

The Govan side haven't won the league since the 2020-21 campaign under Steven Gerrard and McInnes has the team in good stead to do so.
