Rangers should be looking to hire Kjetil Knutsen if they sack Philippe Clement, believes Paul Slane.

The former Celtic midfielder has waxed lyrical over the Bodo/Glimt manager's style of football.

The Norwegian has been linked with the Ibrox hot seat in the past with the Daily Record claiming he was even considered to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Slane told Open Goal Podcast at 38:03: "There's been a lot of talk of this guy Kjetil Knutsen from Bodo Glimt and the football they've played. I certainly think he's the type you're looking at. Got a great style."

Kjetil Knutsen will be a great option for Rangers

Knutsen could be an excellent fit for the Ibrox outfit due to his proven track record and dynamic approach to football.

At Bodo/Glimt, he transformed the club into one of Norway's top teams, winning the Eliteserien thrice and making a significant impact in European competitions.

His style of play is aggressive, high-energy and offensively potent, which could inject a fresh, attacking dimension to Rangers' gameplay.

The Norwegian's teams are known for their high-pressing game and tactical flexibility, traits that could revitalise Gers' approach.

Under Philippe Clement, there is no distinct identity and the club desperately need a manager to bring someone in who does.

Knutsen has shown that he can do that with players not as good and have some impressive performances on the European stage.
