Graham Dorrans has backed Kevin Muscat to be in the running to replace Philippe Clement as Rangers manager.

The Belgian has come under increased pressure at Ibrox following the Gers' disappointing 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Sunday (20 October), with some fans and pundits suggesting his time in Glasgow is running out.

Although reports suggest the board remain behind Clement [Chris Jack, 22 October], Go Radio pundit Dorrans believes Muscat could join Derek McInnes in the race to take over the Light Blues.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (22 October, 30:15) he said: "If they do decide to make a change, he'll [McInnes] will be in with a shout, along with another few names as well.

"You spoke yesterday about Kevin Muscat as well so there will be names in there."

Will Rangers sack Philippe Clement amid Ibrox developments this season?

This isn't the first time Muscat's name has been linked with the Rangers job. Just over a year ago, the 51-year-old was one of the final two candidates, alongside Clement, to replace Michael Beale at Ibrox [talkSPORT, 15 October].

Ultimately, the board decided to go with Clement ahead of the Australian and initially, that seemed to be the right call. Now some pundits and fans are wondering whether or not the Gers may have picked the wrong man.

Muscat's CV is incredibly impressive but it isn't clear if he would be willing to make the move back to Scotland having come so close last time. Craig Moore has gone as far as to suggest recently that the ship had sailed [The Go Radio Football Show, 1 September].

Maybe his stance could change if the Light Blues did opt to make an approach to bring him to Glasgow once again, but that is unlikely to happen imminently while Clement remains in his post currently.
