Kevin Kelsy and Badredine Bouanani backed for high-profile Rangers full debuts

Rangers are in the thick of the action as they return to Ibrox against St Mirren on Wednesday.

Derek McInnes has enjoyed the best week of his small Rangers career so far over the past seven days.

On the pitch, Rangers have won three-in-a-row against Aberdeen, Falkirk and Motherwell to revive the poor start.

Off it, the Bears signed Kevin Kelsy and Badredine Bouanani to bolster their final third on deadline day.

Kelsy signed for £9.5million, while Bouanani would become Rangers' most expensive signing if he was kept around after his initial loan.

They've signed at the perfect time, too.

Why were both signings needed at Ibrox?

While a perfect week in terms of results and signings, there was one massive negative.

That was Lawrence Shankland suffering another hamstring tear, with McInnes confirming he will be out for at least three months.

Ryan Naderi came on and scored against Motherwell after that blow, but it doesn't guarantee the German a starting spot on Wednesday.

Chris Jack of the Rangers Review has predicted that both Kelsy and Bouanani will start against St Mirren.

The journalist believes that with two games against Celtic to follow, the two new attackers start them both.

Who else could start for Rangers?

Part of the recent success has been McInnes finding his best starting side.

It took a while with plenty of changes each week harming this Rangers squad from making any real progress.

The back five will likely be Ivor Pandur, Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez, Olwethu Makhanya and James Penrice.

Ahead of them would likely be Nicolas Raskin and Dan Neil.

Then it's the front four that could change, with the consistency behind them keeping Rangers as solid as possible.

Djedi Gassama and Minsu Kim look to be guaranteed starters now, so it's whether McInnes prefers Naderi and Findlay Curtis, or his two new signings.

We're close to finding out.

Curtis has struggled in recent weeks, while Naderi has impressed without setting the world alight.

And ahead of two huge Old Firms that could transform this entire season in two competitions, it's time for these big-money signings to earn their keep.

There's no better way to introduce yourself to the Ibrox faithful than downing those in green, and Kelsy and Bouanani will surely know that having been here for days now.
