Andy Halliday was left blown away by Jack Butland's "unbelievable" save in Rangers Scottish Premiership win over Motherwell.

Philippe Clement's side picked up their first three points of the new campaign with a 2-1 win over Stuart Kettlewell's side on Saturday (10 August) thanks to goals from Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny at Hampden Park.

While the Gers were in control for much of the match, Butland was called into action to deny Zach Robinson in the second half and Motherwell midfielder Halliday was left stunned by the Englishman's effort.

Speaking on The Open Goal YouTube channel (12 August, 13:40) he said: "Butland made an unbelievable save.

"I was right behind it and I was like goal all day long."

Will Jack Butland exit Rangers amid transfer rumours?

While Halliday has previously suggested the Gers should have cashed in on Butland to fund their summer rebuild [Open Goal, 31 July] his display at Hampden Park on Saturday showed just why Clement was so keen to keep him in Glasgow.

The former Manchester United man had absolutely nothing to do for the majority of the game, but as soon as he was called into action, he pulled off an incredible save that few keepers in the Premiership would have matched.

While most supporters wouldn't expect an Old Firm side's keeper to be their best player, Butland really has been the Light Blues' most consistent performer ever since he arrived in Glasgow last summer and he has recovered from a slight dip in form.

Keeping him between now and the end of the transfer window could be huge to Clement's side's title bid this season.

Luckily for Rangers, the Englishman doesn't appear to be in any rush to call time on his spell at Ibrox yet.
