Ivor Pandur is keeping a keen eye on Rangers buddy Olwethu Makhanya over the international break.

The two signings are a big reason as to why the Gers have turned their fortunes around in Govan recently.

Makhanya's early Rangers performances earned him a call-up to South Africa's squad for their three African Cup of Nations qualification games.

Does Makhanya have competition for place with South Africa?

Makhanya only made his competitive debut for South Africa against Guinea, and is likely to make many more appearances for his nation with the direction his career is going in.

The 22-year-old started next to Hannover 96's Ime Okon, who was on the scoresheet for South Africa.

There were other centre-backs on the bench, as Lebone Seema of Orlando Pirates and Khulumani Ndamane of Mamelodi Sundowns FC failed to get any playing time.

It appears that Makhanya may not have many troubles in starting games away from Rangers, but that also comes with it's obvious risks for the Bears.
