Ally McCoist has used his Rangers experience to discuss the discourse surrounding Manchester City.
The Citizens are currently the biggest topic in football after bombshell news dropped over the weekend.
Reports detail how they have been found guilty of 114 out of 115 alleged charges related to breaches of Premier League financial regulations.
That has certainly kicked up a fuss in the Premier League and beyond.
There is now expected to be an appeal as the Etihad outfit remain staunch in their opinion that they have done nothing wrong.
This has all seen Rangers fans cast their minds back to 2012 and their relegation, McCoist is no different.
Manchester City could have exciting times ahead
There is yet to be confirmation of a punishment for the Sky Blues at this stage.
There a wide range of different possibilities being spoken out as many believe the Premier League need to come down as harshly as possible.
That has prompted conversation among fans and pundits alike over what that could look like.
Immediate relegation is what many people see as the only fair punishment after years at the top of the tree in England.
McCoist is someone that knows all about a fall down the divisions in his experience with Rangers back in 2012.
The Light Blues were forced down to the third tier in 2012, but the ex-striker has suggested that it gave himself and Ibrox fans memories they won't forget.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Monday, he said: "It wasn't an ideal situation, clearly, but it ended up, in a bizarre stroke, being a brilliant experience. It was the last thing we needed, but you had to make the most of what it was.
"It was absolutely incredible. The journey itself, Man City fans will stick by them if that happens. That is something that is special."
This would certainly be different for the 10-time Premier League champions, but could learn a thing or two from the Govan outfit.
How Rangers can act as perfect Man City example
In 2016, the Gers made their return to the Scottish Premiership after four seasons away.
A drop into the third division started as well as it could have with immediate promotion and a 24 point gap to second place.
It was a similar story in League One as McCoist carried his side to promotion at the first attempt.
The same couldn't be said of the Championship as a first season in the second tier ended with the legendary striker handing in his resignation.
Mark Warburton did manage to restore top flight status the next year as the journey back to the top was complete.
Rangers fans look back on some of those days down the leagues with fond memories as they travelled to new places, they may never go again.
It obviously won't be an ideal situation for Manchester City to deal with, but could give fans a new experience that they will eventually come to enjoy.
For now, they can enjoy Erling Haaland and Enzo Maresca.
