How Neil McCann will help Derek McInnes unlock yet another new Rangers star - 'Beautiful'

Neil McCann has played a huge role at Rangers over the years.

From his playing days to occupying the dugout within the coaching staff, he's had a hand in a lot of success.

Even now while in charge of Kilmarnock, he continues to help Rangers on and off the pitch.

Firstly, he took Findlay Curtis on loan last season to Rugby Park.

After a sensational second half to the season with Killie, Curtis ended up on the plane with Scotland to the World Cup.

Now, Bailey Rice is the latest to be taken under McCann's wing.

What has Neil McCann said about Bailey Rice?

It's been a contrasting start to the season for the young Scot.

Rice has made six appearances since signing on loan from Rangers, but only two of those have been starts so far.

Those have come in the last two for Kilmarnock, beating Hibs 1-0 and drawing against Hearts in great performances.

Speaking to the Killie Chronicle, McCann shares what he loves about the midfielder already at Rugby Park.

“He’s become a really important member of the squad and the performance against Hibs showed why we wanted to bring him here," he said.

“He’s got a composure, he’s got a beautiful left foot, but there’s so much more from him that I want, and I’m going to get it from him.”

Where would Rice fit at Ibrox?

There's certainly space in the squad and McInnes will know that.

It was a very busy summer of transfers in that area, with Dan Neil, Vanja Dragojevic and Cammy Devlin all signed.

That adds to Nicolas Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani already there.

Next summer, there will likely be doubts over Devlin and Raskin, possibly even Chukwuani too, given he's not starting.

So, Rice could come back in and take the opportunity with both hands.

Curtis is now in the thick of things at Ibrox under McInnes, rotating with Djeidi Gassama and making a real impact when called upon.

Apart from when they meet after the international break, McCann will want success at Rangers, and that includes players like Rice who is mentoring personally now.
