Hamza Igamane is missing from the Rangers squad to face Malmo due to passport issues preventing him from travelling, 4 Lads Had A Dream reports.

According to the Gers podcast via X on 26 September the striker was unable to go to Sweden with his teammates due to problems with his documentation.

Philippe Clement has named Cyriel Dessers as the starting striker for the Europa League clash but has no senior centre forward on the bench as a result.

Philippe Clement unexpectedly without Rangers striker

It may have been unavoidable but the Light Blues being without arguably their most exciting new asset [PLZ Soccer, 16 September] is the last thing they or the manager needed to kick of the European campaign.

And logistically it is just the latest set back in a season which started with a huge one hanging over it with the Ibrox building work, and continues to be affected by key leadership positions being unfilled.

Igamane's signing was a confusing one for some time as the Moroccan wasn't even seen in team training for weeks during the summer [4 Lads Had A Dream, 30 July].

But his belated introduction to the first team since the Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic has provided a definite boost as he has looked very capable, and questions over why money was spent on a young, injured player look to have been answered.

If Dessers can keep up his vital scoring form it may not be a catastrophe in Sweden, as long as his teammates step up as well.

But with Danilo already absent through injury after suffering a set back to his knee problem [Chris Jack, 5 September] and excluded from the European squad as a result it is another hugely unwelcome complication in a young campaign already beset by them.
