Hamza Igamane dubbed 'Sensational' for what he did for Rangers v Tottenham

Steven Thompson was awestruck by Hamza Igamane's composure after he scored the opening goal for Rangers against Tottenham on Thursday.

Speaking live on BBC Sportsound (12 December, 9:06pm), Thompson had high praise for James Tavernier's cross and Igamane's finish in the 1-1 draw in their Europa League clash.

Tavernier drove into the final third before floating an inch-perfect cross into the Spurs box, where Igamane stepped away from Pedro Porro to find the bottom corner on the half-volley.

Thompson said: "It's a brilliant pick out from James Tavernier to the back post, where Igamane had kind of drifted narrow, and I'll tell you what, the composure on that finish – absolutely sensational."

With almost every single passing game, Igamane gives Gers fans a glimpse of his seemingly boundless potential, and his 79-minute display against Tottenham at Ibrox was the clearest showing yet.

It's unlikely that Danilo or Cyriel Dessers – the latter replacing Igamane for the last 11 minutes – would have had the speed of movement to get in position for that goal, let alone his cultured left foot.

Before the last five matches, the 22-year-old had made just two starts as he played second-fiddle to Dessers, but Igamane's form has made him one of the first names on the team sheet in recent weeks.

Igamane has shown to be just as proficient as a line-leading number nine or when playing in tandem with Danilo off the left, but he's certainly proven he can be the Gers' number-one striker for years to come.

Clement will be delighted with the forward's contribution despite his side being pegged back by Spurs late in the second half, and with Sunday's League Cup final on the horizon, Igamane simply has to start.
